交通 Transport	JR久大本線筑後吉井駅で下車、徒歩約10分です。 　Take the JR Kyudai-Honsen Train to Chikugo Yosii Station, and walk for about 10 minutes. 　 西鉄バスでは中町又は吉井営業所で下車、徒歩約5分です。 Or take the Nishitetsu bus to Naka-Machi, or Yosii Office, and walk for about 5 minutes. 　 　自動車では大分自動車道朝倉ICより一般道を車で10分です。 　Or drive on the Oita Freeway to Asakura IC, and drive on the public road for about 10 minutes. 　周辺には駐車場が数カ所あります。 　There are several parking areas nearby.

　吉井町は古くから豊後街道（ぶんごかいどう）の宿場町として栄えました。
Yoshii-machi used to flourish as a stage town along BUNGO KAIDO, an old trade road.

　明治（1868年−1912年）の初期まで3回の大火に見舞われた結果、火災を防止するため土蔵造りの町並みとなりました。(写真1)
Around the beginning of the Meiji era (1868-1912), three conflagrations broke out here, so warehouses with plaster walls were built for fire prevention. (Picture 1)

　白壁土蔵と水路の情緒あふれる町並みを散策しながら、家族でおひなさまめぐりをしてきました。（写真2）
We walked along the whitewashed warehouses and canals which had a good atmosphere, and enjoyed O-HINA-SAMA MEGURI as a family. (Picture 2)

　町内の旧家所蔵の数多くのおひなさまが、旧家、商店、公共施設など４０カ所以上で展示されていました。（写真3, 4）
　A lot of O-HINA-SAMA from old families in the town were displayed in more than 40 places such as old families’ houses, stores, and public buildings. (Picture 3, 4)

　数百年の歴史あるもの、貴重なもの、現代的なものなど数多くのおひなさまがありました。
There were various O-HINA-SAMA; some hundred-year old ones, precious ones, and modern ones.

　なかには１ｍ以上の大きさのおひなさまもありました。（写真5）
Some of them were more than 1 meter tall. (Picture 5)

　その大きさに驚き、少し怖いように思えました。
　We were surprised and a little scared to see them.

　おひなさまの数の多さには圧倒されました。
The great numbers of O-HINA-SAMA overwhelmed us.

　記念写真付き人力車乗車会もありました。
There was a JINRIKI-SHA (a rickshaw) ride with a commemorative photo service.

　居蔵の館（いぐらのやかた）（写真6）と鏡田屋敷（かがみだやしき）（写真7）も見学しました。
We also looked around IGURA-NO-YAKATA (Picture 6) and KAGAMIDA-YASHIKI (Picture 7).

　居蔵の館は明治末期に建てられた、入母屋の妻入り建築です。
IGURA-NO-YAKATA was built in the IRIMOYA and TSUMAIRI style at the end of the Meiji era.

　鏡田屋敷は町に残る唯一の屋敷型建造物で、幕末から明治初期に建てられた郡役所の官舎です。
KAGAMIDA-YASHIKI is the only YASHIKI style building remaining in the town, and was the county office residence which was built from the end of the Edo era (1603-1867) to the beginning of the Meiji era.

　伝統を感じられる、とても興味深い建物でした。
We were very interested in those traditional buildings.
