　説明: 「柳川さげもんめぐり」　すてきなお店にありました。

　柳川の地方の雛祭りといえば雛壇に添えられる「さげもん」です。（写真1, 2）
　When we speak about the HINA-MATSURI in Yanagawa, people think of ‘SAGEMON’, which is hung near a HINA-DAN (a special doll-stand). (Picture 1, 2)

　「さげもん」は江戸（1603年－1867年）末期の旧柳川藩時代に女の子が生まれた時、知人や親戚から送られた着物の切れ端で作られたのが始まりといわれています。
‘SAGEMON’ is said to have started in the old Yanagawa Clan period of the end of the Edo era (1603-1867), and it was made of scraps of KIMONO which friends and relatives presented to a newborn girl.

　初節句までに祖母、母親、親戚のおばさんなどが、赤ちゃんが健やかに育ち、一生幸せでありますようにと祈りを込めて一針ずつ縫います。
A newborn girl’s grandmothers, mother, and aunties sew ‘SAGEMON’ stitch by stitch, praying for her healthy growth and lifetime happiness.

　柳川地方伝統の七色の糸で巻いた大小の鞠や、縁起の良い宝袋、匂い袋、兎、鶴、鶏、這い人形などが作られます。
　They make Yanagawa traditional big and small balls, which are wound with threads of seven colors, and stuffed toys and dolls such as fortunate treasure bags, scent bags, rabbits, cranes, chickens, and crawling babies.

　最後に輪の中央に大鞠を下げ、輪に小鞠と縫いぐるみを交代に吊り下げて出来上がりです。
Finally, a big ball is hung at the center of the ring, and the small balls and stuffed dolls are hung alternately from the ring.

　こうして愛情が込められた「さげもん」を町のあちこちで目にすることができます。
　You can see these affectionate ‘SAGEMON’ around the town.

　とても可憐な「さげもん」にすっかり魅了され欲しくなりましたが、不器用な私にはとても自分では作れそうもありません。
I am deeply fascinated by lovely ‘SAGEMON’ and I want one, but I am too clumsy to make one.

　販売もされていましたが、結構高価で残念ながら手が出ません。
They sell ‘SAGEMON’, but the price is rather expensive for me.

説明: 「柳川さげもんめぐり」　流しびなです。

　おひな様水上パレード、おひな様供養と里親さがし、そして最終日は流し雛祭りなどが行われます。（写真3）
　They hold a O-HINA-SAMA (HINA doll) aquatic parade and a O-HINA-SAMA memorial service and foster-parent seeking for the O-HINA-SAMA, and on the last day they have NAGASHI-BINA (floating HINA dolls down the river). (Picture 3)

　3月の柳川は雛祭り一色になります。
In March, Yanagawa hums with the HINA-MATSURI.
